Sad news for everyone at Cammeray Cricket – with news of the passing away of a Life Member. Malcolm ‘Max’ Delany passed away on Sunday 9 May. Max Delany, a prominent member of the club, who during his time amassed 439 wickets at an average of 12.84, featured in 4 x A Grade premiership over 7 years in the 1950’s and was the oldest life member of Cammeray Cricket Club.
To many of the current Cammeray members, our first meeting of Max came in 2011, when his daughter Jan Woods, contacted the club, and organised a visit for Max, and another legend Frank Galvin with their club. A truly humbling experience for all the current players and for Max and Frank. I can still recall the passion and love for the club, and the fun Mr. Delany and Mr. Galvin had with their team mates. The momentous day was blogged here.
On behalf of everyone at this great club of ours, our deepest sympathy goes out to Jan and her family, they are in our minds and hearts.
