Palmer Joins the 100 Club

He has many names and many muscle parts, but Elliot ‘JL’ ‘The Coach’ ‘Spongebob’ Palmer is about to join an illustrious group of men who have donned the Cammeray Green 100 times. Here’s a wrap of his career at The Cammers so far.

The muscular (and some would say squat) individual is a top-middle order batsman who can turn on the runs with a flick of his forearms. He also has quite the noodle bowling style managing to cause uncommon questions and take wickets in the most surprising of circumstances.

JL debuted in the green and gold on the 2nd of November 2013 against Chatswood in the B1 Grade scoring 25 – a respectable total.

Since then, The Coach has played 99 games walking out to bat 85 times amassing 1654 runs at an average of 24.69. He has played the majority of his matches for the 1st Grade side donning the Vice-Captain title for the last 3+ years.

While his batting is considered his strength, his bowling numbers are quite the story in themselves. The devastating noodles have been bowled across 119.5 overs with 10 maidens, 27 wickets at an average of 21.52. He has taken one Michelle with figures of 6/30 in a losing side.

While the muscles do bulge, he does spend a lot of his time hiding at 2nd slip where he has totalled 43 catches and 4 run outs.

El is a big part of the Cammeray Club being a committee member from 2014 – 2017 and a regular at training never afraid to tweak a technique and provide support throughout the grades.

El will play his 100th game this weekend against Northbridge at Boronia Park in Hunters Hill. Congratulations mate and we look forward to seeing many more from you in the future. X
