Weekend Wrap – Saturday 4th of December

Rain affected fixtures made all matches last weekend one day clashes and Cammeray were ready for them coming away with 5 wins out of 7. Here is this week’s wrap up thanks to Ray White Lower North Shore.

1st Grade | 6-172 def Sydney United 9-171 @ Willoughby Park | One Day Match

After a year away from their ‘home ground’ Willoughby, the lads were excited to be back and gave a warm welcome to the new team on the 1st grade block – Sydney United.

On a green deck with an outfield that was more hard dirt than grass, the Cammers bowled first and the Sydney United top order put up a fight reaching 20 overs at 3/87. A classy bowling partnership from finger spinner Lucais Haldane (3/24) and Scott Costain (3/37) stemmed the flow of runs and took key wickets as Sydney crumbled to 9/171 well short of par.

The run chase didn’t start off too well with a very early wicket, but club legend Peter Eirth (38) and skipper Kevin Johnson’s 90 run partnership silenced the average sledging and put the Cammers in a firm position. Johnson top scored once again with a superb 78 helped by Phil Cook (24) as the lads reached the total 6 down and go up to 1 win ahead in the ladder, firmly on top.

Weeks and weeks of rained out cancelled matches finally had our 2nd Grade lads take to the field at ELS Hall against Bethel.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t the start to their season they were looking for as they were put in to bat first and were bowled out for 88. These days happen lads and we are sure you’ll bounce back red hot this coming weekend.

4th Grade – 189 def West Ryde 39 @ West Epping Oval | One Day Match

An unbelievable day for the 4th graders who took on West Ryde at West Epping Oval. Batting first, Cammeray had key fellows stand up and score consistently throughout in the innings with opening bat Will Satalick scoring 25, no.3 Rory Martin (32), no.6 Seb Di Sano notching a classy 68 and Angus Murray with 41.

All out for 189 – the Cammers were ready to defend and my word did they. Bowling West Ryde out for 39, there had to be some stand out performances and there were.

Taking 6/18 off 6 overs including a hat trick, Mr Gerard Hughes put his hand up ensuring West Ryde were sent packing in 15 overs.

5th Grade | 4/181 def Vikings 6/177 @ Naremburn Lower | One Day Match

It was a great win for 5th grade as well who took on the Vikings at Naremburn lower last Saturday.

Bowling first, Cammeray took an early wicket before an 87-run partnership took its toll on the lads. A good fight back had Vikings reach the full 35 overs at 6/177. Special mentions to Nick Small with figures of 4/32, Daniel Tucker (1/29) and Ashish Phadke (1/35).

A star studded top order was all that was needed for the Cammers to chase it down with opener Owen Terzis setting the tone early with a quick fire 14 off the first over before Layton Gould (73), Wade Ridley (50) and 20-runs apiece to Sanjeet Bhandari and Tucker had them reach the total with 14 overs to spare.

6th Grade | 6/140 def North Shore 129 @ Brush Farm Park | One Day Match

We love hearing how the President’s team fared over the weekend and it’s great to see another win to add to their belts. Bowling first, the Cammers rolled North Shore for 129 well below a par score at Brush Farm Park.

Leading the bowling attack was Tom Skinner with figures of 3/22, Oscar Stewart (2/36) and 1 wicket each to Luke Schofield, Lucas McLagan and Tim Wall.

But it wasn’t sunshine and daisy’s early for the Cammers in their chase, with ‘The Pres’ Steve Si, his opening partner Schofield, and his no.3 Ben Key all walking off with nought to their name.

But resilience from Chris Bedford (42), Skinner (33) and Wall (20) ensured the Cammers were walking away smiling getting the job done in 32.2 overs.

D Grade | 134 def 8-124 @ Allan Small Park | One Day Match

Last but definitely not least is our ladder leading D-Graders who had a tight contest with North Shore at Allan Small Park and came away with the win.

Batting first and all out for 134 in 31.4 overs, Cammeray had one great solo performance from opening bat Alister Marnoch with a lovely 54. Helping him get there was fellow opener Daniel Hattersley (18) and no.4 Flynn Boyd.

Bowling the full 35 and managing to hold them off by 10 runs, the Cammers bested North Shore rotating the 7 bowlers to full effect. Leading the way with the ball was Luke Shallvey with 4/15, Shashanka Kamepalli (1/14) and Luke Hovhanesian (1/20).
